LLANELLI WANDERERS RFC v LAMPETER RFCSaturday 26th September 2009The Wanderers defeated Lampeter by 36 points to 27 on Saturday and produced some excellent rugby, with a man of the match performance from centre Karl Evans. Whilst the scoreline failed to reflect the superiority of the Wanderers and the visitors were only kept in the game by ill- discipline and some strange refereeing decisions which resulted in a number of yellow cards for the home team, meaning they were reduced to 14 players for most of the second half. The Wanderers crossed for tries through centres Karl Evans (3) Gary Peters and Nick Macey, whilst prop Richard Samuel powered through from 22 meters out to complement some excellent forward play. Nick Macey completed the scoring with 3 conversions. Following encouraging performances in both their away games, the Wanderers are gradually getting their game together with a number of new additions to the squad this year slowly bedding in and getting used to the pace of Division 3 rugby. Coaches Gareth Rees and John Davies are ideally placed to bring on the young talent in the team and help them develop. |
