22/11/2008 - With Andrew Davies out injured what does he do in his spare time?

17/11/2008 - The Wanderers defeated visiting Bynea by 46 points to 3 to progress into the next round of the SWALEC Plate Competition.  The visitors turned up with a bare 15 players and there were no competitive scrums.  The Wanderers travel to take on New Dock Stars in the next round on Saturday 20th December.

03/11/2008 - The Wanderers put in a fine display of running rugby as they defeated visiting Lampeter by 46 points to 18 at Stradey on Saturday.  In the process they ran in 8 tries to the visitors 2.  The visitors were reduced to 14 men just before half-time when their hooker, having been initially yellow carded, was sent off for too much back-chat to the referee!!  Some Photos from Saturday's match have been added and more will follow as time permits.

31/10/2008 - The Wanderers entertain Lampeter in a league encounter at Stradey tomorrow looking to bounce back from three successive defeats in league and cup matches.

31/10/2008 - The Wanderers hopes of glory in the SWALEC Cup disappeared as they were defeated 20-18 by Division 4 West side Tycroes at Stradey on Saturday.

The Wanderers now drop down into the new SWALEC Plate Competition where they have been given another home tie in the draw which sees local rivals Bynea make the short journey to Stradey on Saturday 15th November.

The losers in the first two rounds of the Plate competition will then drop down into the new SWALEC Bowl Competition with the finals of all 3 competitions being played at the Millennium Stadium on the same day in May 2009.

20/10/2008 - It was another defeat for the Wanderers when they travelled to Pembrokeshire to take on Haverfordwest last weekend.  The hosts coming out on top by 38 points to 3.

13/10/2008 - The Wanderers were defeated by 34 points to 6 in their visit to North Pembrokeshire side Crymych on Saturday.  They are on their travels again on Saturday as they travel back down to Pembrokeshire to take on Haverfordwest who are just a point above them in the table.  The following week they entertain Tycroes in the 2nd Round of the SWALEC Cup.

04/10/2008 - The Wanderers made it two wins in a week as they defeated visiting Newcastle Emlyn 37-10 today.

30/09/2008 - The Wanderers finally got their first win of the season when they defeated Amman United 22-19 on Saturday.  This weekend they entertain Newcastle Emlyn at Stradey, before two away games at Crymych and Haverfordwest.  We have been drawn at home to Tycroes in the 2nd round of the SWALEC Cup with the match due to be played on Saturday 25th October.

23/09/2008 - The Wanderers came up against a far superior side at Stradey on Saturday as visiting Pontyberem look to make an immediate return to division 2 after being relegated last season.  The Gwendraeth Valley side ran out victors by 41 points to 3 as they ran in 5 tries.  Saturday sees the Wanderers involved in a basement battle away to Amman United with both clubs seeking their first win of the season.

16/09/2008 - The Wanderers went down to a narrow 16-13 defeat at the hands of relegated Tumble on Saturday, but managed to secure a losing bonus point.

09/09/2008 - The 2008/09 season got off to a disastrous start on Saturday as the Wanderers went down by 54 points to 7 at home against Cardigan.  The Cardis who lost out in the play-offs for promotion last season set out their stall for the season running in seven tries to the Wanderers one.  The Wanderers were hit by several injuries during the match and were further hit when one of their players was sent off in the closing stages for abusing the referee.  A match report from the Cardigan view can be seen here.

On Saturday the Wanderers travel to take on relegated Tumble who opened their 2008/09 season with a comprehensive 49-6 defeat to Newcastle Emlyn, having led 6-3 at the interval.  Both sides will be looking to get their season back on track in this local derby.  The Wanderers will be hoping that several players who were not available for the opening game will make their first appearance of the season on Saturday, and that those players who had to leave the field due to injury will be able to make a quick return to the fold.

19/08/2008 - The Wanderers were in action at the Penybanc 10's tournament on Saturday 17th August and lost 12-10 in the semi-finals to the host team.  Atrocious weather conditions prevented them from playing any meaningful rugby.

Two friendlies have been arranged for the next two Saturday's before the league season starts on the 6th September with a home fixture against Cardigan who lost in the play-off for promotion last season.  This coming Saturday the Wanderers travel to take on Cefneithin and on the 30th August they travel to take on Morriston.

With a number of new recruits having joined the club, there is an air of expectancy for the coming season.

01/06/2008 - The Wanderers finally put their game together to banish any relegation worries by gaining 19 out of  a possible maximum of 20 points in their final 4 games of the season, thus securing division 3 status for next year.

PRESENTATION EVENING will be held on Friday 21st June at Llanelli Cricket Club at 7:30 p.m.
AGM will be held on Friday18th July at Llanelli Cricket club at 8:00 p.m.

Coaching team for next season:
SENIOR COACH                   Gareth Rees
ASSISTANT COACH            Andrew Richards
TEAM MANAGER                 Johnathan Mayze

23/4/2008 - Following defeats to Pembroke Dock Quins by 18-6 and Lampeter Town by 21-18 the Wanderers are now struggling to avoid the drop down into division 4.  With four matches remaining they need 12 points.  They play 3 home games in the next seven days starting with Newcastle Emlyn tonight, followed by Haverfordwest on Saturday and then Pembroke Dock Quins next Tuesday evening.  The season ends with an away trip to Cwmgors on Saturday 3rd May.

05/04/2008 - A battling performance at home against third placed Cardigan but another defeat by 20 points to 10.

29/03/2008 - The home match against Newcastle Emlyn is cancelled due to the wet weather.

22/03/2008 - Another defeat as they go down 19-15 away to Haverfordwest.

01/03/2008 - The Wanderers went down by 17 points to nil to promotion seeking Llanybydder at Stradey.

16/02/2008 - The Wanderers travelled up the Amman Valley to take on Amman United today and came away wishing that the Six Nations matches of the last couple of weeks had also taken place today as they went down by 37 points to 13.  The next matches are again sandwiched in between Six Nations matches with the next against Llanybydder at home on Saturday 1st March, followed by a trip to Haverfordwest on the 22nd March.

26/01/2008 - The Wanderers avenged their earlier 45-3 defeat at Laugharne with a 20 - 13 win over their Carmarthenshire rivals at Stradey today.  There will now be a 2 week break due to the Six Nations matches before we travel to Amman United on the 16th February, and then entertain Llanybydder on the 1st March.

19/01/2008 - The league match against Cwmgors was postponed due to the wet weather over the last week or so.

12/01/2008 - The Wanderers went down to defeat by 12 points to 34 in their home match against table toppers Ammanford today.

05/01/2008 - It was not a Happy New Year for the Wanderers as they came away from the long trek to Aberystwyth with a 40 points to nil defeat.  They will hope to get back to winning ways when they entertain Amman United at home next week.

23/12/2007 - The Wanderers provided some Christmas cheer for their supporters yesterday as they defeated Lampeter Town by 39 points to 0 at Stradey.

16/12/2007 - In a rearranged league fixture the Wanderers crashed to a heavy 45-3 defeat to Carmarthenshire rivals Laugharne yesterday.

02/12/2007 - It was another heavy defeat for the Wanderers as they were defeated 31-3 by promoted Cardigan yesterday.

11/11/2007 - The Wanderers won their second match on the trot as they defeated Newcastle Emlyn by 17 points to 7 at the Tivysiders ground yesterday.

Ray Gravell - 1951 - 2007

A True Legend - RIP

Llanelli Wanderers and Haverfordwest players, observe a minutes silence in memory of Llanelli, Wales
and British Lions legend Ray Gravell, before their recent match at Stradey.

Wanderers & Haverfordwest players remember Ray Gravell with a minutes silence before the match at Stradey on 10th November.  To see a larger version of the photo click on it.

04/11/2007 - The Wanderers got back to winning ways when they defeated visitors Haverfordwest by 22 points to 15 at Stradey.  Prior to the match both sides observed a minutes silence in memory of the great Llanelli, Wales and British Lions legend Ray Gravell who had died recently.

21/10/2007 - It was a heavy defeat at the hands of Llanybydder in the latest match as the Wanderers went down by 45 points to 7 to the newly promoted side from Ceredigion.

14/10/2007 - The Wanderers won their first match of the season when they defeated Amman United by 12 points to 8 in a close battle at Stradey yesterday.

23/09/2007 - The match against Laugharne was postponed.

11/09/2007 - The new season has started badly for the Wanderers with two defeats in their opening matches.  On the opening day of the season they went down by 25 points to 18 at Ammanford and last Saturday they were defeated at home by Cwmgors by 27 points to 24.  As they say things can only get better and lets hope they start with our next fixture which is away to Laugharne on the 22nd September.  Due to a change in the rules for this season despite the 2 losses the Wanderers are not pointless as bonus points are being awarded for defeats by 7 points or less and for scoring 4 tries in a match.

07/07/2007 - Pre-season training starts on Tuesday 10th July - Old & New players welcome - meet at the ground 6.30pm.  The Wanderers AGM will be held at the Llanelli Cricket Ground on Friday 27th July at 8.00pm.

07/06/2007 - Photos of the recent tour to Majorca have been supplied to the webmaster and they will be added to the site as time permits.  Here is a little taster:

Congratulations to all concerned.

27/05/2007 - The Wanderers Annual Presentation Evening takes place on Friday 1st June at the Llanelli Cricket Club, commencing at 7.30pm.

27/05/2007 - On their recent tour to Majorca the Wanderers unexpectedly faced with 2 matches, but they defeated English opponents Chingford by 14 points to 5 and a Spanish select side by 27 points to 5 to round off an excellent tour.

09/05/2006 - The company hosting our website has given notice that it will cease providing the service from the middle of this month.  The website will have to be moved to another server and we apologise in advance for any loss of service while the transfer takes place.

09/05/2007 - The Wanderers completed their season with a 22-17 win over Ammanford.  The win ensured that the Wanderers finished the season in 4th place their highest ever in the National Leagues.  They can now look forward to their end of season tour for which they were recently presented with a new set of kit by local company Genset.

21/04/2007 - The Wanderers won their penultimate fixture of the season 12-5 when they defeated Trimsaran at Stradey last night.  Next Saturday they play their final match away at Ammanford.  Local rivals Tumble are division 3 west champions for 2007 and we wish them well in division 2 next season.  For 2007/08 there will be five Cardiganshire teams in the division with Cardigan and Llanybydder joining Aberystwyth, Lampeter and Newcastle Emlyn.

14/04/2007 - The Wanderers narrowly lost their local derby at Trimsaran 17-15, and will be looking for revenge when the two sides meet in the return fixture at Stradey of Friday night.

07/04/2007 - The Wanderers made it 3 wins on the trot with a hard earned 26-17 win over visitors Haverfordwest at Stradey today.  This followed their 19-13 win over Newcastle Emlyn last week.

07/04/2007 - The two outstanding fixtures which were cancelled earlier in the season have now been re-arranged with the Wanderers entertaining Trimsaran on Friday 20th April and travelling to play Ammanford on Saturday 28th April.

24/03/2007 - After a 31-20 defeat against Tumble in their last match the Wanderers returned to winning ways with a 25-5 win over relegation threatened Pontarddulais today.  Hopefully the win will boost confidence ahead of next week's home encounter against Newcastle Emlyn when the Wanderers will be looking to avenge the heavy defeat at Emlyn earlier in the season.

17/02/2007 - The news coming back from Anglesey is not good with yet another defeat for the Wanderers as they went down by 33 points to 3 against second placed Llangefni.  This defeat sees the Wanderers slip down to a disappointing 6th place in the table.  Next week sees another break due to the 6 Nations and then we entertain third placed Tumble at Stradey on the 3rd March before another enforced 2 week break.

03/02/2007 - Yet another defeat at home to table toppers Aberystwyth must now have put paid to any promotion hopes the Wanderers may have had after their impressive start to the season.  They went down by 21 points to 10 in a hard fought battle which was lost within the first 10 minutes as the visitors raced into a 14-0 lead with two tries under the posts - the first an interception inside their own half within the first minute.  The Wanderers battled back with tries from Steff and Daniel Rogers to make it 14-10 but the visitors scored another converted try just before the break to lead 21-10 and that was to be the final score as both defences held out during a frantic second half.  Two match reports have been added to the site - one from our intrepid reporter and one from the Aberystwyth viewpoint - find them here.

31/01/2006 - An inept performance from a near full strength Wanderers side saw them slip to their 5th defeat in 7 matches as they went down 25-7 at Lampeter on Saturday.  Another defeat against table toppers Aberystwyth next Saturday will surely put an end to any outside chances they have of promotion this season.  Read the brief match report here.

23/01/2007 - I'm pleased to report that our intrepid reporter has come out of hiding and has sent in a report on last Saturday's match against the Quins - read it here.  He promises that this will now become a regular feature on the site!!  The top points scorer page has also been updated.

20/01/2007 - The Wanderers finally played a home match when they took on Pembroke Dock Quins at Stradey today - the first since the 2nd December.  They made home territory count as they got back to winning ways with a hard fought 28-18 win in very blustery conditions.  Wanderers followers were given a bit of a scare when James Bannister left lying motionless on the ground along with a Pembroke Dock player after a heavy collision, but after lengthy treatment the young prop forward was able to continue and help his side to a much needed win.  Leaders Aberystwyth went down by 13-5 to Haverfordwest, while second placed Llangefni defeated Newcastle Emlyn 30-20, allowing the Wanderers to move up to 4th place behind Tumble who ran in 60-7 winners at bottom of the table Pontarddulais.

13/01/2007 - The new year started as the old one ended with a defeat for the Wanderers as they went down by 15 point to nil against Laugharne today.  The next four matches will be crucial as they entertain Pembroke Dock Quins on Saturday and the following week they travel to take on Lampeter Town before entertaining table toppers Aberystwyth.  There will then be a break for the Six Nations before another top match against second placed Llangefni.   They need to get back to winning ways quickly if they are to get back into a promotion place.

12/01/2007 - After two successive defeats and two postponements due to the wet weather the Wanderers will be looking to get the show back on the road when they travel to take on Laugharne on Saturday.  The Wanderers won the corresponding home fixture 24-16 back in September.

01/01/2007 - A Happy New Year from everyone at the Wanderers.

18/12/2006 - The Wanderers blip in form saw them go down 15-13 at Haverfordwest on Saturday and drop to 4th place in the table.  Lets home that with a break next weekend that we can get our injured players fit and ready for our local derby against Trimsaran on Saturday 30th December.

11/12/2006 - The Wanderers travelled to Newcastle Emlyn on Saturday and came away with a 42 points to 3 stuffing.  With no fewer than 9 players unavailable and Andrew 'Kato' Jenkins having to return home prior to kick-off, due to family reasons, we were left with a bare 16 players and many playing out of position.  I am reliably informed that the score flattered the home side as they scored a few break away tries when  the Wanderers were pressing hard in the Teify Valley sides half.

The defeat sees the Wanders drop down to 3rd place in the table and with a couple of new injuries picked up last weekend we can only hope for a better performance in the away fixture against Haverfordwest next Saturday.

02/12/2006 - The Wanderers bounced back from their recent defeat to Tumble with a convincing 42-15 win over Pontarddulais today.  The shock of the day was Laugharne's 19-0 win over Tumble which means that we go back to the top of the table.  The club now plays two away fixtures before another break over Christmas.  They travel to play Newcastle Emlyn next Saturday and Haverfordwest on the 16th December and they bring 2006 to a close by entertaining local rivals Trimsaran on Saturday 30th December.

18/11/2006 - The Wanderers relinquished their unbeaten record with a 28-6 defeat against Tumble, and as a result change places with the victors in the Division 3 West league table.

28/10/2006 - Llangefni were the latest club to be defeated by the Wanderers as a 32-10 victory maintains our unbeaten record and keeps us at the top of the table.

17/10/2006 - Photos from the match against Lampeter have been added to the site - click here to visit the page.

16/10/2006 - The Wanderers continue to set the pace at the top of the division following their excellent 25-17 win over Aberystwyth on Saturday.

07/10/2006 - The Wanderers sit proudly at the top of the table tonight after a comprehensive 46-12 win over visitors Lampeter at Stradey.  The Wanderers ran in 8 tries with the visitors only managing 2 tries.  Tumble lost at Newcastle Emlyn to leave the Wanderers as the only unbeaten team in the division.  Next Saturday they travel to take on Aberystwyth who narrowly missed out on promotion last season, but on today's form the Wanderers will take some beating.  The following week is a Konica Minolta Cup weekend and then we entertain Llangefni on the 28th October before the two week break for the Autumn Internationals.

23/09/2006 - Yet another win sees the Wanderers heading the table with Tumble with both on 9 points from 3 matches as they defeated Pembroke Dock Quins by 27 points to 22 down in Pembrokeshire today.  Next Saturday is the next round of the Konica Cup so the Wanderers are without a fixture.  On Saturday 7th October they entertain Lampeter who are currently third in the table.

21/09/2006 - The Wanderers defeated visitors Laugharne by 24 points to 16 at Stradey on Saturday with tries from newcomer Richard Samuel, Andrew 'Kato' Jenkins,  Johny Jones and Steff Rogers, with Jones also kicking two conversions.

14/09/2006 - Due to a lack of players the Wanderers conceded their Konica Minolta Cup Match to opponents Dowlais on Saturday.

07/09/2006 - The season opened with a 34-18 win over newly promoted Ammanford at Stradey on Saturday, running in six tries along the way.  See the match report here.  Saturday sees a trip up to Dowlais in the Konica Minolta Cup.

16/08/2006 - The Wanderers have arranged two friendlies - Tondu (Home) Saturday 19th August and Burry Port (Away) on Saturday 26th August with both matches kicking off at 2.30pm.

27/07/2006 - The team manager for the 2006/07 season will be Andrew 'Kato' Jenkins.  With Barrie Davies tied up with building duties on his new house 'Kato' has agreed to stand in for the coming season.  We're all sure he will do a good job, and he will no doubt turn out in some matches as well - having 'retired' at the end of last season he has already been out training!!

06/07/2006 - The 2006/07 League fixtures have been announced and can be seen here.  The Wanderers begin their league season with two home matches against Ammanford and Laugharne, with an away Konica Minolta Cup match against Dowlais in between.  See the full Konica Minolta Cup draw here

Changes in the league structure mean that the league is reduced to 12 teams from 14 and the season is scheduled to end with an away trip to local rivals Trimsaran on Saturday 14th April.  No doubt there will be re-arranged matches to be played after this date.

21/06/2006 - Light training has commenced - players meet at the Wanderers ground at 6.30pm on Thursdays.

07/06/2006 - Congratulations to the award winners at last week's presentation evening:-

Clubman of the Year       Gareth Rees
Sportsman                         Jonathan Hope
Captains Trophy              Karl Evans
Players Trophy                Andrew Davies
Player of the Year            Mark Cook
Captain 2006-07 season   Iwan Jones (re-elected)

21/05/2006 - Annual Presentation Evening will take place at the Electric Club at 7.30pm on Saturday 3rd June 2006.

21/05/2006 - Annual General Meeting will take place at the Electricity Club at 7.30pm on Friday 21st July 2006.

12/05/2006 - The Wanderers lost their final match of the season by 2 points on Saturday as they went down 24 - 26 to local rivals Trimsaran.  It was a disappointing end to the season as four successive defeats, all to teams above them in the table, saw the Wanderers slip to 6th place in the table.  However I am sure that at the start of the season if someone had offered the players sixth place they would have accepted it.  If we can strengthen a few positions before the start of the next season in September we can seriously push for promotion next year.

06/05/2006 - The Wanderers went down by 28 points to 3 at home to Laugharne in their penultimate match of the season.

03/05/2006 - Are you planning a trip to watch Wales in the Six-Nations next year?  The fixtures have just been announced for the 2007 competition which will give us all a guide as to how Wales will perform in the World Cup later in the year.  The fixtures are:

03/05/2006 - The Wanderers were unlucky to go down by 36 points to 19 against promotion seeking Aberystwyth at the seaside town on Saturday.  The visitors had two tries disallowed and could have scored 3 more when they had the overlap but the ball went out of hand.  With 2 matches remaining we have now dropped down to a very respectable 5th in the table behind Penclawdd, Aberystwyth, Trimsaran and Saturday's opponents Laugharne.

25/04/2006 - The Wanderers will play Laugharne at home on Saturday 6th May and will bring the curtain down on the season with a home fixture against Trimsaran on Saturday 13th May.  Both these fixtures were cancelled earlier in the season due to Cup fixtures.

25/04/2006 - Visitors to Stradey were treated to a feast of running rugby on Saturday although the result did not go the Wanderers way as they went down to a 54-26 defeat to Champions elect Penclawdd.  The home side were far from disgraced as they ran in four tries.  Match report here.

15/04/2006 - The Wanderers won their 14th league match of the season with a convincing 48 points to 15 away victory over Amman United today.  Match report is now available.

Meanwhile local rivals Trimsaran's promotion hopes were dented  as they went down by 36 points to 3 at Aberystwyth, a win which takes Aber' to within 2 points of Trim', and with 3 games in hand.

Penclawdd's championship hopes were boosted with a 79-10 win over relegated Hendy, they are now 8 points clear of second placed Trimsaran with 3 games in hand.

08/04/2006 - The Wanderers came away from Newcastle Emlyn with the narrowest of victories by 27 points to 26 today, while the 2 top clubs Trimsaran and Penclawdd drew 22 all.  Our congratulations go to local rivals Hendy who won their first match of the season as they defeated Amman United 17-13.  Read the latest match report here.

03/04/2006 - NEW - Clubhouse website for all the Asda League action - click here to visit the site where you can download a copy of the new ClubHouse magazine.  There's also forums, team profiles and the latest news from the ASDA leagues.

01/04/2006 - The Wanderers ran in 10 tries in their 52-20 home win over bottom of the table Hendy today.  The pitch was in surprisingly good condition considering the heavy rain experienced throughout the week.  Steff Rogers ran in 4 tries, Christian Jones and Karl Evans 2 each, with Jonathan Hope and Shaun Thomas one each, with Shaun Thomas converting one.  More details on the match can be read in the match report.

The surprise of the weekend was Amman United's 20-10 win over promotion chasing Trimsaran, while Aberystwyth defeated Llangefni 19-0.

28/03/2006 - Here's a challenge for Barney & Co - Dunvant RFC are holding a 'Front Five' 7 a side competition on Saturday 20th May with proceeds going to the TLC Foundation set up by Brent Cockbain and his wife in memory of their son who died of cancer.  Squads must consist of 12 players, including the team manager/first aider, and must be props, second rows or hookers!!.  To see full details of the competition click here.

28/03/2006 - The Wanderers threw away a 13-0 half time lead to go down 15-13 in their away battle with local rivals and promotion chasing Trimsaran on Saturday.  Match report can be seen here.

16/03/2006 - The Wanderers took on Penclawdd in the Tovali Bowl Semi-Final at Gowerton last night, with the 'Cocklemen' coming out on top by 46 points to 10 - see the match report here.

09/03/2006 - A disappointing first half display saw the Wanderers draw their home match against Tenby 13-13 on Saturday.  See match report here.  Due to the internationals there is a 2 week break before we take on promotion chasing rivals Trimsaran.

18/02/2006 - The Wanderers long trek north ended in disappointment as they went down by 28 points to 25 against Llangefni today, more details to follow when available.  Despite the defeat the Wanderers remain in 4th place in the table.  The match report is now online here.

Penclawdd are human after all as they lost their first game of the season when going down by 28 points to 23 against Laugharne, who are now 10 points behind second placed Trimsaran with 4 games in hand.  It was a day of surprises as Newcastle Emlyn defeated Trimsaran 10-3, and Tumble won 17-11 over Aberystwyth.

11/02/2006 - The Wanderers came back to winning ways with a 29-17 win over Pembroke Dock Quins at Stradey today.  The win keeps in joint third place with next weeks opponents Llangefni.  A bout of thuggery from one of the Pembroke Dock forwards saw one of our players having to receive hospital treatment for a serious injury - read the match report here.  Runaway leaders Penclawdd had an easy run out as they hammered local rivals Tumble by 111 points to 5.  Second placed Trimsaran also won 23-18 at home to Tenby.

28/01/2006 - The Wanderers crashed to a 32-15 defeat at the hands of Laugharne today.  Penclawdd continue to head the table with their 13th win of the season at Haverfordwest, while local rivals Trimsaran stay in second place with a 17 - 12 win at Llangefni.  More details in the match report which is available here.

21/01/2006 - The Wanderers returned to winning ways with a 29-20 win over local rivals Tumble at Stradey today.  It was a hard fought battle with the visitors 15-12 ahead at one point in the second half, but the home side piled on the pressure and three tries in quick succession saw them go 29-15 up before Tumble scored an unconverted try near the final whistle.  In all the Wanderers scored 5 tries including a penalty try.  Read the match report here.

19/01/2006 - Saturday's match against Tumble will kick-off at 2.45pm and not the usual kick-off time of 2.30pm.

14/01/2006 - The Wanderers lost 27-17 in their away match against Haverfordwest today.  The Wanderrs were 17-7 up at one point through tries from Mike Francis-Rees and Andrew Davies, both converted by Shaun Thomas, who also kicked a penalty.  Match report from our intrepid reporter is now online.  Fortunately second placed Trimsaran also lost, while table toppers Penclawdd were involved in a Konica Minolta Cup match at Dunvant which was abandoned due to an injury to the referee.

Next Saturday sees the Wanderers entertain local rivals Tumble, and this is followed by an away trip to Laugharne before the Six Nations intervenes in the fixture schedule.

07/01/2006 - The Wanderers got the new year off to a fine start with a hard fought 15-10 win over visiting Lampeter.  The visitors took the lead with a converted try, but the Wanderers bounced back with 2 tries of their own.  Match report is now online and can be viewed from here

With leaders Penclawdd and second placed Trimsaran both winning we remain in third place.  Next up is an away trip to Haverfordwest with both teams hoping for better weather to the monsoon conditions they faced at Stradey earlier in the season.

17/12/2005 - After last week's disappointing performance the Wanderers bounced back with a hard earned 10-5 win over 4th placed Aberystwyth at Stradey today.  Scoring 2 first half tries through Daniel Rogers and Rob Jenkins they went to half-time 10-0 ahead.  With 5 minutes remaining the visitors scored a try and piled on the pressure looking for another, but the Wanderers defence held out for a fine win.

The Wanderers now have another 2 week break from league action before they take on Lampeter at home on the 7th January.  The Wanderers committee would like to take this opportunity to wish all their players and supporters a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year - don't eat and drink too much!!

10/12/2005 - The Wanderers received a setback to their promotion hopes as they went down by 44 points to 5 against local rivals Penclawdd today.  Match report is now online

They will be hoping for a better performance when they entertain Aberystwyth next Saturday, in a match that marks the halfway stage of the season.  This will only be the fifth home game in a stop and start season and will be followed by another enforced 2 week break over the Christmas & New Year holidays.

03/12/2005 - The Wanderers remain in third place in the table despite their excellent 40 points to 10 win over visiting Amman United at Peoples Park on Saturday, running in six tries.  Read the match report here.

02/12/2005 - The home match against Amman United tomorrow will be played at Peoples Park and not Stradey, due to the wet weather.

27/11/2005 - Although the Wanderers have been out of action due to the Wales Internationals over the last couple of weeks, some matches have been played in Division 3 West.  Penclawdd beat Llangefni 19 points to 8 to move to the top of the table, while Tumble beat Amman United 35-21 and Hendy lost to Newcastle Emlyn 17-39.  The league table has been updated accordingly.

24/10/2005 - The Wanderers dropped out of the Konica Minolta Cup at the second round stage when they lost by 46 points to 7 at Llantwit Fardre on Saturday.  A depleted side performed admirably - see the match report here.  The Wanderers return to league action on Saturday when they make the short journey to take on bottom of the table Hendy.  Due to their involvement in the cup the Wanderers dropped down to 4th in the table with Aberystwyth's 77-0 drubbing of Pembroke Dock Quins.

They will play what will be only their third home match of the season on Saturday 12th November when they take on Newcastle Emlyn.

15/10/2005 - The Wanderers won their 4th match of the season to move up to 3rd place with a 23 - 12 win at Tenby United today.  Read the match report here.  The match between Newcastle Emlyn and Haverfordwest was abandoned after 35 minutes with the home side 15-0 ahead.

09/10/2005 - The Wanderers defeated their North Wales visitors Llangefni by the narrowest of margins with a 17 points to 16 win at Stradey yesterday.  Tries came from Mark Cooke, Leighton Williams, and Andrew 'Kato' Jenkins, with Shaun Thomas converting one try.  Read the match report here.  The shock of the day was Amman United's excellent 54 points to 21 win over Pembroke Dock Quins, who had defeated the Wanderers the previous week.

06/10/2005 - There will be no game for the "A" team this week as we were unable to arrange a fixture.  Sorry but future fixtures are now being arranged.

03/10/2005 - The Wanderers went down by 37 points to 17 away to old rivals Pembroke Dock Quins on Saturday and as a result drop down to 7th place in the table.  At one point in the match the score player count was 14-11 to the Wanderers as 6 players were yellow carded during the first half but the Wanderers failed to capitalise.  See match report here.

Due to a serious neck injury to one of the Amman United players the match at Laugharne was abandoned after 60 minutes, with the home side leading 41-7.  We all wish the player concerned a full and speedy recovery.

30/09/2005 - Due to several players being unavailable there will be no 'A' team match this Saturday.  Players are reminded to send their player profiles to the webmaster for inclusion on the website.

30/09/2005 - The Wanderers will be on the road again in the second round of the Konica Minolta KO Cup Competition as they were drawn away to Division 2 East side Llantwit Fardre.  The match is scheduled for the 22nd October - click here to see the full draw.  Having played in both rounds of the cup the 'Fardre have won both their league fixtures to date, and with the Wanderers also unbeaten it should be an interesting battle.

26/09/2005 - Unlike local rivals Felinfoel, the Wanderers moved into the second round of the Konica Minolta Cup with a convincing 55 points to 3 win over Aberystwyth University on Saturday.  This means that the home local derby against Trimsaran scheduled for the 22nd October will now have to be re-arranged. Watch this space for details of the draw for the next round which will be made later this week, and hopefully a match report from the win over the Uni boys.

See the rest of the Konica Minolta Cup first round results here.

22/09/2005 - The 'A' team narrowly lost their away fixture against Burry Port last Saturday.  Unconfirmed reports give the score as 34-28 but no other details are available.

18/09/2005 - The first XV continued their excellent start to the season with a 17-8 win over Tumble on Saturday. Newly promoted Llangefni continue to set the pace as they defeated Tenby by 50 points to 10, and we take them on in our next home match which, due to the Konica Minolta Cup next week, is on Saturday 8th October.

As our intrepid reporter is away in warmer climes there will be no full match report this week. Tries were scored by Gavin Mathias and James Bannister, both of which were converted by Shaun Thomas.  Shaun Thomas also added a penalty.  The bad news from the match was that centre Gareth Jones was stretchered off five minutes before the end and taken to Prince Philip Hospital with a broken leg.  The good news is that he hopes to be back playing by Christmas - I'm sure everyone involved with the club wishes him a speedy recovery.

12/09/05 - The 'A' side had a good start to the season by defeating Hendy by 13 points to 8 in what was their first game for 2 years.

A good performances from evergreen veteran Dorian Lee, talented outside half Richard Clement and speedy winger Alun 'Bach'.  Tries from dynamic centre Jonny Evans and standoff Clem with Clem also adding a penalty.

1st team rugby beckons for a significant number of this fine squad!

Next Saturday they travel again to take on the "Blacks" of Burry Port.

10/09/2005 - In atrocious conditions the Wanderers drew 14-14 with visiting Haverfordwest at Stradey this afternoon.  Shaun Thomas kicked three penalties and Karl Evans scored a try as the home side led 14-9 at half time.  The visitors scored a late try to level the score.  See match report from our intrepid reporter who kept dry all afternoon!!

Drowned rats - the rain was coming down in sheets as this photo shows.

The nearby match between Furnace and Aberaeron was abandoned after 50 minutes, and the match between Hendy and next weeks opponents Tumble was abandoned after 40 minutes with Tumble 27-7 ahead.

07/09/2005 - The 'A' team travel to play Hendy on Saturday in what will be the first 2nd XI fixture for 2 years.  Players please meet at the Wanderers Ground at 1pm.

04/09/2005 - The 2005/06 league season kicked off with a 20-10 away win over Lampeter yesterday.  Newcomers Llangefni travelled to take on Pembroke Dock Quins and came away with a 31-10 win.  Match report on our win can now be seen here.

01/09/2005 - Divisions one to five will now be known as the ASDA Leagues after the Supermarket chain signed a 2 year deal with the WRU.  ASDA replace previous sponsors Lloyds TSB, while the Principality Building Society has taken over sponsorship of the premiership for the next three years.

01/09/2005 - All change for 2006/07 - The WRU has announced that a new structure will be put in place for the 2006/07 season.  Divisions one and two will be split into east and west sections with 12 teams in each section.  Divisions three, four and five will be aligned on a regional basis instead of the current system, which means there will be four divisions under the banners of the Scarlets, Blues, Ospreys and Dragons."

The situation in North Wales will be put under the spotlight once again and this latest move means that Llangefni and Ruthin will not now have to return to play in their own region at the end of the 2005-2006 campaign.  See the press release here.

26/08/2005 - There is a trial match against Loughor (away) tomorrow - Saturday 27th August - kick-off 2.30pm.  The second XV will play their first match for 2 years on Saturday 10th September - venue as yet to be decided - any new or old players are welcome to contact our Director of Rugby Barrie Davies.

14/07/2005 - The Wanderers have been given a bye in the Preliminary Round of the Konica Minolta Cup Competition, and in the first round they will travel to play Aberystwyth University on Saturday 24th September 2005 instead of entertaining Laugharne in the scheduled league fixture.  See the full draw for the preliminary and first rounds here.

12/05/2005 - The Wanderers lost their final home match of the season by 24 points to 10 at the hands of local rivals Trimsaran last Friday evening.  Our roving reporter has once again let us down by not sending in a match report.  Saturday sees the final match of the season with a trip to the seaside to take on Tenby United - bus leaves at 12.00.

12/05/2005 - The Wanderers are looking for a player/backs coach or a player/forwards coach for next season.  Interested parties should contact Barrie Davies.  The Wanderers will also have a youth team in 2005/06 with the coaching duties being taken on by Jonathan Mayze.  Watch this space for more information.

30/04/2005 - On the day our roving reporter decided to take a day off and watch his son playing cricket, the Wanderers put in one of their best performances of the season as they defeated visiting Haverfordwest by 37 points to 10.  With Llandeilo losing 20-18 to Tenby United, thanks to a last minute penalty, it means that the Wanderers are now safe from relegation.  They can now enjoy the final two matches of the season without any pressure.

25/04/2005 - The 2 matches against Trimsaran (home) and Tenby United (away) have been re-arranged.  Our last home match against Trim' will take place on Friday  6th May and we bring the curtain down on the season when we travel to the seaside on Saturday 14th May.

25/04/2005 - Hopefully we will be able to maintain our place in division three for next season, when we will probably have the pleasure of entertaining the 'Foel.  With four clubs being relegated from division two west and our near neighbours being deducted 3 points last week it looks as if Felinfoel are heading for the big drop!!

24/04/2005 - The Wanderers lost their away match against Pembroke Dock Quins by 19 points to 5 on Saturday  Llandeilo defeated Lampeter 25-21 to maintain the relegation pressure in the final matches of the season.  Match report is now online.

16/04/2005 - The Wanderers won their second match in succession when they defeated bottom of the table Cardigan by 33 points to 19 on Saturday.  The Wanderers went 20 points up with 4 tries in the opening quarter but the visitors ran in 3 of their own as the first half closed with the score 20-19.  Two further tries and a penalty in the second half saw the Wanderers home.  The shock of the day was Llandeilo's 42-31 win over promotion chasing Gorseinon and with Penclawdd defeating Loughor 22-20 it's getting tight at the top.  Read the match report here.

With Llandeilo having 3 matches remaining they remain 6 points behind the Wanderers.  To make sure of staying in Division 3 the Wanderers need at least 4 points from their remaining 4 matches against Pembroke Dock Quins (A), Haverfordwest (H), Tenby United (A) and Trimsaran (H).

09/04/2005 - The Wanderers boosted their relegation worries with a 24-15 win over visiting Aberystwyth on Saturday.  At one point they were 24-3 up but they let the visitors score two late tries to let the score more respectable for the team who are in the top six of the division.  Match report from our intrepid reporter to follow.  With a home match against bottom of the table Cardigan next Saturday, we should be able to secure our future in division three for another season.  See match report for the Aberystwyth match here.

07/04/05 - Kinross RFC are staying in the Stradey Park Hotel, Llanelli for the Wales v Scotland match on Sunday 12th February 2006.  They are looking to play the Wanderers on Saturday 11th February.  Kinross RFC are 2005 National Division 5 champions, however, they will be sending a mixed ability / social side to Wales.  Are we up for it?  Saturday's before internationals are usually free dates!!  What do you think - Let Steve James know as we have to get back to Kinross asap.

07/04/05 - To read a report on the Junior Festival of Rugby held last week click here.

03/04/05 - Are you planning a trip to watch Wales in the defence of the Six Nations title in 2006?  Wales travel to take on England and Ireland click here to see the full fixture schedule.

03/04/05 - The Wanderers go down 22-14 away to Trimsaran on Saturday.  Match report to follow once available from our roving reporter.

30/03/2005 - Message received today:

Just a short note to say 'thank you' to Llanelli Wanderers RFC for your hospitality at the recent Triennial Dinner.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable occasion with an extremely warm and welcoming audience - always indicative of a thriving club.

Please pass on my best wishes to all the members and especially to James and the players for a successful remainder of the season.

Kind Regards

Phil Steele

27/03/2005 - The Wanderers got a much needed victory when they defeated Tenby United 25-20 at home yesterday.  This should give them confidence going into next Saturday's local derby against Trimsaran who, along with Tumble, are now only a point above the Wanderers in the league table.  Read the match report here.

21/03/2005 - Penclawdd defeated the Wanderers by 43 points to 7 in the return fixture at Penclawdd on Friday night.  The win takes the home side to within a point of second placed Gorseinon, while the Wanderers still languish near the bottom of the table.

13/03/2005 - The Wanderers went down to a 50 points to 17 home defeat at the hands of promotion chasing Penclawdd on Saturday.  The Wanderers never recovered from giving away two early tries which saw them go 14-0 down inside the first ten minutes.  Match report can be read here.  The two sides meet again in Penclawdd on Friday evening - kick off 7.15pm.

06/03/2005 - The Wanderers defeated Lampeter 14-7 on Saturday - see match report from our match reporter.

20/02/2005 - Reminder that the tickets for the triennial dinner are on sale now - get yours before they sell out.

20/02/2005 - The Wanderers have re-arranged their two matches against Penclawdd - The home match will take place on Saturday 12th March and the away match on Friday 18th March.

20/02/2005 - The Wanderers went down to another defeat  28-5 at the hands of visiting Gorseinon on Saturday. Despite a battling performance they were unable to breach the Gorseinon defence more than once.  Dorian Lee made his re-appearance as a second half replacement.  See match report here & match photos here.

30/01/2005 - The Wanderers went down to a 51 - 10 defeat at the hands of division leaders Loughor on Saturday.  With 10 players either injured or unavailable it was a very depleted team which took the field, but they put in a very spirited performance.  Down by 32 points to nil at half time they fought back and scored two tries early in the second half to make it 32 - 10, before the home side ran out comfortable winners.  See Match report here.

30/01/2005 - Details of the guest speakers for the triennial dinner have been finalised - to see more details just click on the link opposite.

24/01/2005 - With the enforced day off the Wanderers dropped into the bottom three as results continued to go against them on Saturday.  Tumble won their fifth game of the season by defeating bottom of the table Cardigan by 20 points to 5 to move ahead of us.  Although the Wanderers have games in hand the pressure for that much needed win continues to increase.  Next Saturday sees a trip across the river into Jack country to take on top of the table Loughor - at least they lost their first game of the season last Saturday when they lost to Aberystwyth!!

19/01/2005 - Match Off - To add to the fixture congestion this weekend's match against Penclawdd has had to be cancelled due to the visitors continued involvement in the Konica Minolta Welsh Cup.  This now makes it four matches that have to be re-arranged - Penclawdd (Home and Away), Tenby United (Away) and Trimsaran (Home) in what is already a busy fixture schedule with regular breaks for the Six Nations matches.

19/01/2005 - A 20 points to nil defeat at the hands of fellow strugglers Llandeilo on Saturday has deepened the Wanderers relegation worries.  With Tumble defeating Haverfordwest there is only 6 points separating five clubs near the bottom of the table.  See match report for Llandeilo match here.

10/01/2005 - There have been some re-arranged fixtures played within division 3 west over the Christmas & New Year period - see the results and how these have affected the league table.  The Wanderers went down by 39 points to 8 in the local derby against Hendy on Saturday with Kato spending another 10 minutes in the "sin bin" .  Match report has now been posted on the site.  Next Saturday's away match against Llandeilo is a must win in the battle to stay clear of the relegation positions.  A shock result last Saturday was bottom of the table and pointless Cardigan's 15-14 win over Haverfordwest who are in the top six.  See photos from the Hendy match here.

22/12/2004 - Photographs from some of the home matches have been added to the site.  Click here to see them.

20/12/2004 - The Wanderers drew their away match with Tumble 20-20 on Saturday.  With a 2 week break for Christmas (Santa has had to cancel the fixture against his XV as they will be too busy on the 25th) and the New Year the next scheduled match is on Saturday 8th January 2005 when we entertain Hendy.  Everyone at the Wanderers would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and we hope to see you next year.

12/12/2004 - The Wanderers returned to losing ways in their journey to Haverfordwest on Saturday, going down by 26 points to 8.  By the time the Wanderers turned up on the pitch they were 17-0 down, and despite both clubs being reduced to 13 players they failed to come back the way they did the previous week.  Read our intrepid reporter's report on the "Battle of Merlins Bridge" here.  The next two matches against fellow strugglers Tumble and Hendy are now going to be crucial as both clubs won their matches over Aberystwyth and Trimsaran on Saturday.

4/12/2004 - The Wanderers players can be delighted with their performance in their 24-20 win over seasoned rivals Pembroke Dock Quins today.  Despite going 17-0 down the Wanderers gradually fought their way back into the match, running in 3 tries, to take the lead 19-17.  A penalty saw the Quins take the lead again before a fourth try took the Wanderers back into the lead.  Many of the Wanderers supporters were surprised to hear the referee state that there were still 15 minutes left, but with the Wanderers forwards on top most was spent in the Quins half.  The visitors broke away with 3 minutes remaining and spent this time encamped on the Wanderers line.  Thankfully the Wanderers defence held firm and there was jubilation when the referee finally blew his whistle to end the game.

28/11/2004 - The Wanderers won their away match at struggling Cardigan by 13 points to 10 on Saturday, with both sides scoring two tries. The match report is now online, but our intrepid reporter failed to get it in early despite leaving the ground immediately after the game, without sampling the excellent hospitality.  Next up it's Pembroke Dock at home on Saturday, and let's hope the win over Cardigan is just what the team needs to boost confidence in the camp.

15/11/2004 - The Wanderers trip to the seaside ended in disappointment as they crashed to a 74 points to 8 defeat at the hands of Aberystwyth on Saturday. Our intrepid reporter has recovered from the shock and has submitted his match report. The next match is on Saturday 27th November 2004 when there is another away trip to Cardigan who are currently bottom of the table, having lost every match to date. Hopefully we can get a win to boost confidence.  Defeat leaves the Wanderers in 11th place in the table with only Llandeilo, Tumble and Cardigan below them.

1/11/2004 - Reminder that training now takes place on Tuesday and Thursday nights - meet at the ground at 6pm.

30/10/2004 - The Wanderers bowed out of the Konica Minolta Cup with a 59 points to 3 defeat at the hands of Merthyr today.  Due to injuries and work commitments they had the bare 15 players to take the field and were lucky there were no further injuries during the match.  The division 2 East side scored nine tries with some fine running rugby, with the only response from the home side coming from a penalty from outside half Steffan Rogers.  Unfortunately one of the Merthyr players left the field on a stretcher with around 10 minutes remaining - and was taken to hospital with what looked to be a serious ankle injury.  The Wanderers can now concentrate on their league performances with Aberystwyth away the next match on the 13th November.  See match report here.

25/10/2004 - With the season barely 8 weeks old the Wanderers are already looking at a fixture pile-up as Saturday's postponement of the away fixture against Tenby already means they have 3 matches to re-arrange in the already full fixture calendar.  Progress against Merthyr in the Konica Minolta Cup on Saturday will further add to the congestion.

11/9/2004 - Wanderers lose the local derby at Hendy by 13 points to 7.  Hendy went into the break 13-0 up playing into a strong wind and failed to take advantage of a 14 man Wanderers as hooker Andrew Jenkins was sent to the sin bin for 10 minutes during the first half.  The Wanderers came back into the match early in the second half with a try under the posts from Karl Evans, which was converted by Steff Rogers.  Despite a spirited effort they failed to turn pressure into points with some intriguing refereeing decisions going against them.  There will be no match report this week or next, as our match reporter has decided to fly to the warmer climes of Gran Canaria!!  See match photographs here.
