Past News28/12/2003 - Cup run comes to an end with a 64 - 5 defeat at the hands of Whitland on Saturday but the boys didn't let the club down. Now we can concentrate on getting promotion to division two, starting with Loughor away on Saturday. A report on the Whitland game has now been posted online (not received from our intrepid reporter!!! - he has not been heard of since experiencing the strength of the Whitland hospitality.) 28/12/2003 - Competition pages updated - new competition with £50 prize and closing date of 2/1/2004. 24/12/2003 - The coaches and captain Andrew Jenkins have decided that, in recognition of his services to Llanelli Wanderers, Dorian Lee will lead the side for the cup game. A gesture I don`t think anyone would disagree with. 21/12/2003 - With our match off, Loughor beat Laugharne to go back joint top with the Wanderers, and Neyland do us a favour by beating Pembroke Dock Quins on their home patch. Updated league table is now online. 19/12/2003 - First XV match against Tycroes has been cancelled as they do not have a front row!! 16/12/2003 - Dress shirts will be available for members after the match against Tycroes on Saturday. 15/12/2003 - First XV move clear at the top of the table following their 25-10 win over Neyland on Saturday. Match report from our intrepid reporter is late but it's now online. 11/12/2003 - Acting captain Karl Evans who was standing in for long term injured club captain Steffan Rogers has requested that his role as captain be handed over to last years captain Andrew Jenkins. This is to enable him to concentrate on his own game and also because of his positional change onto the wing where he feels he will be too far away from play to make immediate tactical decisions. The Coaches would like thank Karl for his honest and mature decision and to Andrew Jenkins for his commitment to this role until the end of the Season. 8/12/2003 - With the Loughor match at Tycroes postponed due to the home side not having a front row the Wanderers went top of the table with a 18-3 win against Milford Haven on Saturday. Match report is now online. ( Apologies for the earlier report - now removed - which stated the match had been abandoned - moral of the story, don't believe everything you read in the press!!). 4/12/2003 - The 2nd Team is playing Cefneithin this Saturday with the Team and location to be confirmed, but meet in the Club at 12.45pm. The first XV team to play Milford Haven, away, is online, just click on the link opposite. 2/12/2003 - The draw for the 4th round of the Konica Monolta KO Cup Competition has been made and we will play Whitland away on Saturday 27th December. Wanderers scored tries by Karl Evans and Dylan Hughes with Andrew Clement converting one. (Other cup results have been updated - many matches were cancelled due to unfit grounds). Match report is now available. 30/11/2003 - League Table updated as there were some league matches played on Saturday. 28/11/2003 - Team to play Abergavenny in the third round of the Konica Minolta KO Cup Competition on Saturday shows many changes to the team which beat Bynea last week. Many players are unavailable. 22/11/2003 - A polished performance by the first XV saw Bynea off by 65 points to 7. The Wanderers scored 11 tries but only managed to convert 5, with Bynea scoring a consolation try almost on the final whistle. The home side had run in three tries before our roving reporter arrived at the ground. His match report is now online later - than usual. 21/11/2003 - Second XV match against New Dock Stars cancelled by the Dock. Despite his time in the sin bin last week Barrie Davies keeps his place in the side for the home encounter with Bynea on Saturday. Rumour has it that he's borrowing Maize's kit as he doesn't need it. 17/11/2003 - Please keep a lookout for Barrie Davies`s kit bag which appears to have been stolen from the Thomas Arms on Saturday. Nothing of any real value apart from Barrie`s boots, which he has had since he was 10. 16/11/2003 - First XV beat Llandybie 43-0 and go clear in second place - match report now online. 13/11/2003 - Second XV match against Trimsaran cancelled due to a lack of players. 9/11/2003 - Thanks to Llandybie's second successive defeat the Wanderers move up to joint second place in the table alongside next week's opponents. Despite defeating local rivals Burry Port 38-20 it was a disappointing performance from the Wanderers. After going 26 points up in the first 15 minutes Burry Port were allowed to come back into the game, and had the visitors had a place kicker the score would have been a lot closer as the All Blacks missed all four conversions and a penalty. Match report from our roving reporter is now available. Unfortunately the second XV match against Tycroes was cancelled due to a lack of players. 2/11/2003 - Another excellent win over Betws by 45 points to 14 keeps the 1st XV in third place in the table, only 3 points behind joint leaders Loughor and Llandybie. Match report from our roving reporter is now available. Second XV also defeated Swansea Uplands. 29/10/2003 - Home Again - Draw has been made for the 3rd round of the WRU Challenge Cup and the Wanderers have been drawn at home to Division 3 East side Abergavenny RFC with the tie to be played on Saturday 29th November 2003.
