Under 10's Match reports

22/02/04 - LLANELLI WANDERERS U10 BEATS Llangennech

Llanelli Wanderers Under 10's played home in a pre arranged fixture against Llangennech.

Continuing the Wanderers’ successful run of wins, the Under 10s faced a tough opponent. The game started straight away as a mauling game, with both sides trying to develop a passing game. Luke Bowen received a clearance kick from Llangennech and started to counter attack, linking up with Ben Leung who continued to drive through Llangennech and eventually passed to Grant Westcott, who then off loaded to Ryan Hopkins who made a darting run through the middle to score a try. This was converted by Ben Leung. Not to be out done by the Wanderers, Llangennech came back with a quick penalty and simply barged through to level the score.

The second half was much like the first half with both sides continually battling to find each other’s gain line. The stalemate was eventually broken when Wanderers were given a penalty which was quickly taken by Ryan Hopkins to score his second try. However, it was not a forgone conclusion for the Wanderers, Llangennech with a last ditch attempt, created a rolling maul and drove the Wanderers back to their try line, only to be denied by Luke Pearson who held the ball up.

The game continued to move ‘to and fro’ with neither side gaining any advantage.

The second half started with the same manner as the first half, until, from a set scrum, Wanderers scrum half Matthew Davies made an individual break and scored a try which was converted by Duane Evans.
